Finished Furniture Wood

This is a recreation of the wood used in some church pews I photographed a while ago. My goal is to create a full 3D model of one of these pews, and this is my start of that project. I was stumped as to how the main wood ring pattern would be created, but after experimenting and getting that part nailed down, the rest fell into place really nicely and overall I am really happy with how this turned out. Its been a while since my last one, so I am glad to come back with a great wood material.

It seemed near impossible to get the natural wood patterning as shown in the reference, but with a few lucky Directional Warps on an Alveolus node, I was able to get it pretty close.

Next took the Tile Random node and made some randomly sized planks, and mapped the wood pattern onto each one using a Flood Fill.

Since this will be used in a game engine, I use the RGBA Combine node to mix the 3 maps into one MRAO Map.

I spent some time exposing parameters to easily get variants of this wood for reuse on many furniture pieces.
